I've been doing some massaging at my barn for the dressage team horses and
the some boarders horses/ponies.
My sisters mare has been so grateful and has really changed her work
attitude with just a little massage. She used to be very resentful of people
(because of her long history associated with people and the pain they have
caused her) but, she has finally worked out that those were bad people and
we are not. It is great!
My pony, Limerick, is also doing fantastic and LOVES deep massage.
There has been a great success story with one of the dressage team horses,
he has a history of unsoundness in his front legs that can be maintained
with shoeing. Well, I have done two massages with him and he has changed so
much in just a short time. He is ridden only in the saddle that our coach
(who's a saddle fitter) fitted for him, the girls have all been taught about
proper placement, and I have them doing his stretches before anyone gets to
ride him. The barn manager can't believe she bought him for only $1 ... he
is going so great, and isn't experiencing unsoundness.
